# Can InstantDM handle click-to-message ads or Facebook ad comments?

**Short answer:** No to both, today. InstantDM automates comments on ads that run on Instagram, including boosted posts and dark posts. It does not handle click-to-message (Send message) ads, and it does not answer comments on the Facebook placement of an ad.

Short answer: InstantDM answers **comments on your Instagram ads**. It does not handle the two cases below.

## What you can't do

- **Click-to-message ads.** These are ads with a "Send message" button that opens a chat with you. InstantDM has no automation for chats that start from an ad.
- **Comments on the Facebook placement of an ad.** If your ad runs on both Instagram and Facebook, only the comments on Instagram are automated. Comments on the Facebook side get nothing from InstantDM.
- Creating, pausing or editing ads. Do that in Meta Ads Manager.

## What to do instead

- **Ask for a comment instead of a message.** Write "Comment PRICE and we'll DM you the link" in the ad and run it on Instagram. Then set up [comment automation for the ad](https://instantdm.com/how-to/auto-reply-ad-comments.md). Each comment gets a public reply and a DM.
- **Run the ad on Instagram placements** if most of your buyers comment there, so every comment can be answered.
- **Answer Facebook ad comments yourself** in Meta Business Suite or the Facebook app.

- In the ad picker, an ad that runs only on Facebook either shows **Not on Instagram** and can't be selected, or isn't listed at all.

## Questions people also ask

**My ad runs on Instagram and Facebook. What gets answered?**

Only comments on the Instagram version of the ad. Comments people leave on the Facebook version are not answered by InstantDM.

**Can I auto-reply to comments on my normal Facebook Page posts?**

Yes. Comments on your organic Facebook Page posts can get a Messenger DM. That is a separate feature from ads.

**Will click-to-message ads be added later?**
