TL;DR
No, not the way it works on Instagram. TikTok has no native comment-to-DM toggle, and ManyChat doesn't fire an auto DM from a TikTok comment for most accounts. TikTok's API describes a comment-to-message path in a few markets only. InstantDM, a TikTok Marketing Partner, is launching comment automation. Today the working setup is keyword replies plus Instagram.
- There is no "comment LINK, get a DM" switch anywhere in TikTok's app or Business Suite.
- ManyChat's TikTok product automates inbound DMs, and it's live. The comment trigger is what's missing for most accounts.
- The comment trigger is a partial rollout in Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia, gated by TikTok. Accounts registered in the EEA, Switzerland, or the UK can't use TikTok's DM API at all.
- Workaround: burn the keyword on screen, say "DM me LINK," and let a native keyword reply answer it. Exact match, 500-character reply, Advanced Access required.
- The same hook on Instagram Reels runs real comment-to-DM today on the official Graph API.
- Skip comment scrapers and password-hungry Chrome extensions. TikTok's integrity rules ban them.

Can you auto DM from a TikTok comment in 2026?
For most accounts, no. TikTok doesn't offer a native comment-to-DM toggle, and the major automation tools don't send a private message when someone comments on your TikTok video. The Instagram move, where a viewer comments LINK and the URL lands in their DMs seconds later, has no global TikTok equivalent yet.
That answer surprises people because the demand is obvious. A video takes off, 300 people comment "link?", and the creator is typing the same URL into DMs at midnight. On Instagram this problem was solved years ago. On TikTok, the comment section and the inbox are still two rooms with no door between them for most creators.
This post covers what actually exists: what ManyChat supports on TikTok, what TikTok's own API allows and where, the compliant workarounds that route commenters into your DMs today, and what's coming next. The wider map of everything TikTok does let you automate is in how to automate TikTok in 2026, the hub this post hangs off.
What does comment to DM actually do?
Comment to DM turns a public comment into a private conversation. A viewer comments a keyword on your video, software catches it, and a direct message with your link, file, or price arrives in their inbox. The public thread stays clean, and you get a one-to-one thread with someone who already raised their hand.
The mechanic matters because a DM converts and a comment doesn't. A link in a comment gets buried under two hundred replies. A link in a DM sits in an inbox with a name attached, and the thread can keep going: send the freebie first, ask for an email second, hand off to a human if they stall. That sequence is the core of a chat funnel, the reply layer that turns raw views into something you can invoice. Every system in how to monetize TikTok content sits on top of it.
On Instagram, this is a mature, official feature: the Graph API supports private replies to comments, tools have shipped it for years, and "comment the word" is standard caption copy. That's the benchmark every TikTok creator has in mind when they search "TikTok comment to DM."
Does ManyChat send an auto DM from a TikTok comment?
Not for most accounts. ManyChat's TikTok integration automates inbound direct messages: a viewer messages your Business account first, and a flow answers with keywords, menus, and captured fields. A comment on your video doesn't start that flow for the typical account.
Credit where due: ManyChat's TikTok DM automation is real and live. The integration rolled out to US Business accounts in November 2025, with the broader announcement following in January 2026 (the details are in their own announcement). If you need TikTok inbound DMs, WhatsApp, and Instagram in one builder right now, ManyChat is a serious option. Two gates apply, though: only Business accounts can connect, and EU and UK accounts can't connect at all yet — ManyChat runs a waitlist for those regions.
But the comment trigger is the missing piece, and both users and ManyChat's own staff say so in public. In August 2026, a creator named Vadim posted on X that ManyChat does not support an auto DM from a TikTok comment even on a Business account. Replies in the same window echoed it: "there is no manychat support for tiktok sadly," and "this doesn't work on TikTok right?" from people who assumed the Instagram playbook would carry over.
ManyChat's community moderators confirm it. In a November 2025 answer, a moderator said the response-to-comment trigger is "still in development" and has been "partially rolled out for users located in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia (this is determined on TikTok side)." As late as July 2026, a user who tried a comment keyword trigger got a "not available in your area yet" error, and the only TikTok triggers ManyChat listed were inbound messages, link clicks, and QR code scans.
One thing to be fair about: this isn't a ManyChat bug. Tools built on official APIs can only ship what the platform exposes, and TikTok hasn't exposed comment-triggered messaging broadly. Which leads to the next question.
Does TikTok's API support comment to message?
Partially, and the public documentation is thinner than the sales pages suggest. TikTok's public Business Messaging API reference exposes comment endpoints for public replies only: reply to a comment, reply to a mention. There's no public send-a-DM-to-a-commenter endpoint. The comment-to-message capability partners talk about is gated access that TikTok hands out market by market. ManyChat's team describes it as a partial rollout in Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia, decided on TikTok's side. That's a long way from "every creator, every country, comment any word."
That distinction explains almost everything confusing about this space. A sales page can truthfully say "TikTok comment-to-DM" because the API path exists somewhere, while a creator in the US or Europe finds the feature never fires on their account. Both things are true at once. TikTok's developer-facing overview lives under TikTok API for Business, and access runs through approved partners; there's no settings toggle to flip.
Before paying for any tool that claims TikTok comment automation, ask three questions. Which markets is the comment trigger live in? Is the integration an official TikTok Marketing Partner build or a workaround? And does setup ask for your TikTok password? An official integration authenticates through TikTok's own consent screen. A password field is a scraper wearing a suit.
Which regions can use TikTok DM automation at all?
The deciding factor is the country where your TikTok account was registered. Where you're sitting today doesn't matter. Accounts registered in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or the UK are shut out of TikTok's DM API entirely. Every partner that documents the integration says the same thing, and respond.io's TikTok docs state it plainly: accounts in those regions "cannot use the API to manage or send direct messages."
The US was originally on that excluded list too. TikTok opened a US route around November 2025, which is when ManyChat switched on US accounts and respond.io's changelog recorded US availability. India is also excluded, which tracks with TikTok being banned there. If a tool tells you TikTok messaging is "not available in your area," this registration-country gate is almost always why, and no tool can lift it.
GoHighLevel is the clearest example of how narrow the live footprint is. Its TikTok messaging integration is available only for Business accounts registered in the United States, per its own help docs (updated May 2026). Those docs do show a "TikTok comment on a post" workflow trigger with a DM follow-up action. But they stop short of promising the DM will actually deliver to a commenter who has never messaged the account, and the FAQ says nothing about delivery. Test it on your own account before you treat it as solved comment-to-DM.
Inside the markets where the DM API does work, TikTok's rules still shape the conversation: a 48-hour reply window after the user's last message, a cap of around ten consecutive business messages inside it, and no starting conversations with people who never messaged you. Those limits come from TikTok, and every compliant tool inherits them.
Which tools claim TikTok comment to DM, and what do they actually ship?
Four names keep coming up in this search, and none of them ships Instagram-style comment to DM on TikTok for a typical account. Here's what each vendor's own documentation commits to, quotes included.
ManyChat: three triggers, all inbound
The full list of ManyChat's TikTok triggers, from a moderator in July 2026: "User sends a message," "User clicks a link" (a ref URL you share), and "User scans a QR code." All three need the viewer to act first, and none of them is a comment. The staff answer on comments hasn't changed since June 2025: "At the moment, TikTok doesn't support auto-dm from comments (coming soon)." Follow-ups in that thread were still waiting as late as April 2026. Also worth knowing: buttons in TikTok DMs can't carry hyperlinks. Staff said in November 2025 that "clickable links are also not available in the native app, and we are partnering with TikTok dev team to change that," so any URL travels as plain text. If price is part of the decision, ManyChat's Active Contacts pricing is unpacked separately.
GoHighLevel: the fullest docs, with one unanswered question
GoHighLevel is the one vendor whose help pages describe an actual comment-to-DM workflow. Its TikTok DMs and comment automations doc (updated May 2026) lists a trigger where a "workflow starts when there is a new comment on your TikTok post," with "following up with a DM" named as a next step. The details that don't make the sales pages: keywords match in two modes, "Contains Phrase" and "Exact Match," and the TikTok channel is plain text only. The same docs say it "does not support Templates" and "does not support Attachments, Buttons, Quick Replies." The integration page also warns "It will be enabled incrementally," which fits the GHL users on X reporting keyword triggers that never send. Add the US-registration gate and the delivery question from the section above, and the honest label is documented, not proven. A test comment from a second account settles it in five minutes.
respond.io: inbound only, and it says so
respond.io's TikTok docs are the bluntest of the lot, useful even if you never buy the tool. On starting conversations: "You cannot initiate conversations with TikTok Contacts." That single line closes the door on comment to DM: a commenter who never messaged you is exactly who you'd need to initiate with. The same page pins down the numbers partners inherit from TikTok: up to 10 consecutive business messages inside the 48-hour window, "Messages sent outside the 48-hour window will not be delivered," and a rate limit of 10 queries per second. Even media is gated: image sending is off in a long list of markets including the US, UK, EU, and India, and needs both sender and receiver in supported countries.
Native TikTok: four message types, zero comment triggers
TikTok's own automatic messages come in four types: welcome messages, keyword replies, suggested questions, and chat prompts. All four live in the inbox and react to something a user did there. The keyword reply's rules were covered earlier: exact match, 40-character keywords, 500-character replies, a 1 to 5 business day review. Nothing in the native toolbox reads the comment section, and that's the pattern across all four vendors too: everything live today waits for the user to message, click, or scan first.
What about TikTok Direct Messaging Ads?
They're a paid product for Southeast Asia, not a comment-to-DM substitute. Per TikTok's help pages, Direct Messaging Ads are only available to Verified Business Accounts registered in Southeast Asia, with both the ad account and the targeting in markets such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. The flow is still worth knowing: the ad's button opens a DM thread, the viewer sends the first message, and from there automated replies are fine because the user initiated. If you sell into those markets, it's the most official DM funnel TikTok runs. For everyone else it confirms a theme: TikTok builds messaging features in Southeast Asia first, the same region where the comment trigger surfaced.

What can you do instead of TikTok comment to DM today?
Three compliant moves: shift the trigger into DMs with a native keyword reply, use public replies to route commenters, and run the same hook on Instagram, where comment-to-DM is live. None of them is as smooth as the Instagram version, but they all work without risking the account.
1. Burn the keyword on screen, answer it with a native keyword reply
Since a comment can't trigger a DM, make the DM the ask. Put "DM me LINK" on screen, say it out loud, repeat it in the caption. When a viewer sends LINK as a message, TikTok's native keyword reply answers with your URL automatically.
Know the constraints going in, because they're TikTok's rules and no tool changes them: you need Advanced Access or a Verified Business Account, keywords match exactly (LINK won't catch "link please"), keywords cap at 40 characters and replies at 500, and submitted copy sits in a moderation queue for 1 to 5 business days that you can't edit mid-review. TikTok's help article on automatic messages for Business accounts is the primary source, and the tap-by-tap setup is covered in the TikTok automation hub.
2. Reply in public, point at the keyword
Manually reply to the top handful of comments with one line: "Sent to everyone who DMs LINK." Pin the best one. It costs two minutes per video, it's visible social proof that the link exists, and it turns the comment section into a signpost for the DM trigger that actually automates. Creators running affiliate offers already treat the public reply as part of the pitch.
3. Run the same hook on Instagram Reels, where the plumbing exists
Cross-post the video as a Reel and attach real comment-to-DM there. Instagram's Graph API supports it officially, any comment or keyword can trigger it, and the private reply can carry a link, a follow-up question, and an email ask. That's the funnel InstantDM runs on Instagram today, and the walkthrough is in how to set up Instagram comment-to-DM automation. Steal the opening message from these Instagram DM templates; the copy transfers between platforms even when the trigger doesn't.
TikTok for reach, Instagram for the keyword. The two platforms split the job cleanly in 2026, and the longer comparison is in Instagram vs TikTok in 2026.
What do the numbers look like when a video takes off?
Take a realistic win: 200,000 views, and about 300 comments that say some version of "link?" The numbers are illustrative; the ratio between the two paths is the point.
The manual path is 300 hand-typed DMs. Each one means finding the comment, opening the profile, pasting the URL. Call it 40 seconds per person and that's over three hours of thumb work, due exactly when the algorithm is still pushing the video and you should be filming the next one. Some of the 300 can't be reached at all, because their settings don't accept messages from strangers. What actually happens: the creator answers the first 30, pins one reply, and 270 warm leads scroll on.
The workaround path has the keyword reply approved before the video posts and "DM me LINK" burned on screen. Suppose half the commenters bother to open the inbox and send the word. That's still 150 conversations answered in seconds, at 3am as easily as 3pm, each reply carrying up to 500 characters and your URL. The pinned public reply points the other 150 at the same keyword, and a few of them come around late.
Cross-post the same video as an Instagram Reel with comment-to-DM attached and the gap closes the rest of the way: every commenter gets the DM, including the 150 who'd never send the first message.
What TikTok comment automation should you skip?
Skip anything that reads your comments without an official API: comment scrapers, Chrome extensions that want your TikTok password, cloud phones that "watch" your account, and bots sold as undetectable. Undetectable is a sales word. It's also an admission that the tool needs to hide.
TikTok's Community Guidelines on Integrity and Authenticity prohibit automation tools, scripts, and tricks designed to bypass their systems, and the US Terms of Service bar scraping and unapproved bots outright. Enforcement runs from removed content to restricted reach to a banned account. Restricted reach on a monetizing account is the expensive version of the problem.
The moderation queue, the exact-match keywords, the market limits: those are platform constraints, and every compliant tool lives inside them. A tool that promises to skip the review queue, or to fire DMs from comments in a market where the API doesn't allow it, has left the official path, and your account is the collateral.
When will real TikTok comment to DM be available?
When TikTok opens comment-to-message in more markets, and through Marketing Partner tools rather than a native toggle. The expansion is underway: the API exists and partners are building on it. But nobody outside TikTok controls the timeline, and no honest vendor will promise you a date.
InstantDM is a TikTok Marketing Partner and is launching TikTok comment automation on that official comment-to-message API. The shape is the same mechanic Instagram creators already run: keyword on the video, private reply with the link, lead capture in the thread, human handoff when a real conversation starts. It isn't live this week. Partner status is a program membership, and it doesn't mean TikTok vouches for the product or this article. Don't buy any tool today, ours included, expecting a TikTok comment to fire a DM tomorrow morning.
What you can do now is build the muscle: pick one keyword per offer, use it in every video, and get the native reply approved so the inbox answers itself while the comment trigger catches up.

How do you get ready before the comment trigger arrives?
Do the account plumbing now. TikTok's whole messaging stack runs on the same prerequisites, so a creator who sorts them this month flips a switch when comment-to-message reaches their market instead of starting a two-week setup.
- Switch to a Business account. Every integration in this post requires one, and the DM API is Business-only too.
- Get Advanced Access or a Verified Business Account, and turn on "Receive messages from Everyone." Both gate TikTok's native auto messages, and the toggle is the step people forget: a keyword reply can't answer a DM your settings blocked.
- Pick one keyword per offer and stop rotating. Exact match means LINK, GUIDE, and PRICE each map to one approved reply, and a fresh keyword per video just fills the review queue with near-duplicates.
- Submit the native replies this week, not the week you need them. Copy sits in review for 1 to 5 business days and can't be edited there, so today's submission answers next week's video.
- Prove the funnel on Instagram in the meantime. Run the same hook as a Reel with real comment-to-DM behind it and let the opening message, link, and follow-up question collect data. When TikTok's trigger reaches your market, you paste in copy that already converts.
A Business account, approved keyword replies, and a working Instagram funnel earn their keep even if the rollout takes another year.
TikTok vs Instagram: comment to DM in August 2026
The scoreboard as of August 2026:
| TikTok | ||
|---|---|---|
| Comment triggers a DM | Partial rollout (Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia); no native toggle | Yes, official Graph API, global |
| Keyword DM auto reply | Native, exact match, Advanced Access required | Native plus deeper partner tools |
| Review queue on auto-reply copy | 1 to 5 business days | No comparable queue |

| Best use this month | Reach, inbound DM FAQs | The comment-to-DM sales thread |
If the DM layer is where your funnel leaks, the features that separate a good setup from a frustrating one (triggers, follow-ups, lead fields, handoff) are broken down in the seven DM automation features creators need.
Run the funnel where it works today
The searcher who typed "TikTok comment to DM" usually doesn't need TikTok specifically. They need commenters converted into conversations this week. That funnel is live on Instagram right now, and it's InstantDM's core product: comment-to-DM on the official Graph API, story reply automation, and in-DM lead capture, on web, iOS, and Android.
Pricing, as of August 2026: the free plan includes 500 automations a month plus a 7-day full-feature trial. Legend Pro is $9.99/month flat with unlimited contacts. Trendsetter is $24.99/month and adds follow-ups, ads, and API access. For comparison, ManyChat's free plan covers 25 active contacts under the Active Contacts model it moved to on March 2, 2026, per their pricing page. ManyChat remains the honest pick if you need TikTok inbound DMs plus WhatsApp in one builder today. If you are still choosing the Instagram layer, the tested field is compared in the best Instagram DM automation tools of 2026.
Start free on InstantDM, run the keyword funnel on Instagram, and keep native keyword replies working on TikTok. When InstantDM's TikTok comment automation goes live, this post gets updated with the setup steps.
