There is no single best WATI alternative. For cheaper official WhatsApp broadcasts in India, start with AiSensy. For India Shopify and commerce flows, start with Interakt. For teams that have outgrown seat caps, automation limits, or a WhatsApp-only inbox, start with Respond.io or SleekFlow. For Instagram plus WhatsApp marketing, start with ManyChat. Stay on WATI if you run a small WhatsApp-first team that still fits Growth or Pro.
Prices and plan limits below come from public vendor pages checked on 3 October 2026. A figure is included only when that page printed it. WhatsApp tools change geo pricing without notice. Confirm the live pricing page before you buy.
What a WATI alternative is

A WATI alternative is a product that can take over the job WATI is hired for: official WhatsApp Business API access, a shared team inbox, approved templates and broadcasts, chatbot or flow automation, and a way to pay Meta conversation fees. Meta’s rate card is on the WhatsApp Business Platform pricing documentation, including the charges effective 1 October 2026.
Three product types get mixed together in this comparison. They are not interchangeable.
- Official API platforms — WATI, AiSensy, Interakt, Respond.io, SleekFlow, Gallabox, and similar tools. A plain walkthrough of what official access actually is sits in how to get the WhatsApp API.
- Hybrid tools — official API, with an option to start on a normal WhatsApp number first (Wassenger is the usual example).
- Linked-device or WhatsApp Web tools — faster and cheaper to start, no green tick, different account risk.
If you are leaving WATI because of price, seats, or channels, you almost always want an official API platform. Linked-device tools are not a like-for-like replacement. Website chatbot builders that can connect to WhatsApp (Chatbase, Botpress, Chatling) are another category again. They can answer questions. They do not replace broadcasts, template approval, quality rating, or a multi-agent WhatsApp inbox.
WATI is still a solid default for many small WhatsApp-first teams: a complete stack of broadcasts, flows, and inbox, plus a large verified review base. This guide is for the next question: when WATI is no longer the right default, what do you use instead?
How we evaluated WATI alternatives
We only compared tools that can replace the job WATI is hired for: official WhatsApp Business API access, a shared inbox, templates and broadcasts, automation, and a clear Meta fee model. Website chatbots and unofficial linked-device apps were left out of the main list because they are not the same product. Roundups that mix those categories, including Relevance AI’s WATI alternatives list and Hackceleration’s WATI alternatives lab, are useful as a map of the category, not as a drop-in shortlist.
Each tool was scored on six checks. A tool needed to be strong on most of them to get a full review.
- Official WhatsApp access. Does it run on the official Cloud API through a Business Solution Provider, or on a QR / linked-device session? Official tools stay in the main list. Unofficial tools are explained separately so they are not sold as WATI clones.
- Real cost, not the homepage price. Subscription + extra seats + broadcast or trigger caps + AI credits + Meta conversation fees ± any rate-card markup + GST. A cheaper plan that marks up Meta fees can cost more at volume.
- Why someone would leave WATI. Seat caps, trigger or broadcast meters, channel mix (Instagram, Messenger, web), commerce (Shopify, cart, COD), or mid-market routing. If the tool does not solve one of those, it is not treated as a WATI alternative.
- Automation depth. Broadcasts, flows or chatbots, shared inbox, AI agents, and template handling. Marketing builders and inbox platforms are labeled as such.
- Reviews and partner wording. Review volume, not only the star rating, and whether the vendor states BSP or Meta partner status. Marketing language is not treated as an audit.
- Fit for India and for a switch. INR billing, API approval or blue-tick help, support hours, and whether you can keep the same WhatsApp number. Claims of “zero downtime, history intact” were not taken at face value.
What we did not do: rank InstantDM in this list, crown a universal #1, or copy vendor “us vs WATI” pages. Confirm markup and seat claims on a live invoice.
That produced this shortlist. AiSensy, Interakt, SleekFlow, and Gallabox already sit next to WATI on a WhatsApp-automation shortlist. Respond.io is added here because teams leaving WATI often need mid-market omnichannel operations. ManyChat is added only for social-first teams using Instagram and WhatsApp together. Funnel builders and developer APIs are mentioned, not reviewed as drop-in WATI replacements.
What is the best WATI alternative?
There is no single best WATI alternative in 2026. Use AiSensy for cheaper official broadcasts, Interakt for India Shopify and commerce, Respond.io or SleekFlow if you outgrew WATI’s seats and channel limits, ManyChat for Instagram plus WhatsApp marketing, and Gallabox for an AI shared inbox. Stay on WATI if you are still a small WhatsApp-first team on Growth or Pro.
| If this is the problem | Start here | Usually skip |
| Broadcasts cost too much in India | AiSensy | Enterprise omnichannel suites |
| Shopify, COD, or cart recovery | Interakt | Developer-only APIs |
| Hit the 3-user Growth cap or trigger caps | Respond.io or SleekFlow | Another WhatsApp-only inbox with the same seat model |
| Need Instagram and WhatsApp marketing in one builder | ManyChat | Pure broadcast dashboards |
| Need an AI-heavy shared inbox in APAC | Gallabox | Tools with no AI agent |
| You only need raw API access | 360dialog or Twilio | Full inbox products |
| You want unofficial tools with no Meta fees | Read the official vs unofficial section first | Treating that tool as a WATI clone |
If you are leaving WATI but still want the same kind of product: Interakt for India commerce, AiSensy for budget broadcasts, Respond.io when the team and channel mix have outgrown a WhatsApp-first SMB tool. Landbot’s 2026 WATI alternatives piece uses the same job-to-tool split.
What is the best WATI alternative in India?
For most Indian SMBs leaving WATI, trial AiSensy and Interakt first. Keep WATI if the team still fits the included seats and the work is WhatsApp-only broadcasts plus a simple inbox.
India is where most of this search happens. A list priced only in US dollars, with no INR, GST, API-approval help, or local support, is not a useful shortlist here. Independent India write-ups on the same choice include Xobito’s WATI vs AiSensy 2026 comparison, Linkubit’s WATI vs AiSensy vs Interakt guide, and RichAutomate’s India pricing decode.
India shortlist:
- AiSensy — official API, a limited free plan, and India message rates printed on its pricing page. Built for broadcasts, click-to-WhatsApp ads, and SMB marketing. The first trial if price is the only problem.
- Interakt — official API, India and global pricing, Shopify-native commerce (catalogs, abandoned cart, COD-style flows). The first trial if the store runs on Shopify and WhatsApp is the sales channel.
- Gallabox — shared inbox plus AI agents, often compared by APAC and India sales teams.
- Respond.io and SleekFlow — use these after you outgrow a WhatsApp marketing tool and need routing, extra channels, or mid-market operations. Entry price is higher than a WhatsApp-only marketing tool.
ManyChat is social-first, and WhatsApp is often a paid add-on. Twilio is an API you build on. Neither is the default India replacement for WATI.
WATI’s pricing page is geo-priced. Read the rupee figure in your own browser. Do not treat a blog’s Growth, Pro, or Business number as your invoice.
Why teams look for WATI alternatives
Teams do not search this because WhatsApp is new. They search it because WATI used to fit and the bill or the cap no longer does.
The same five issues show up in reviews and comparison pages, including EntreResource’s 2026 WhatsApp marketing comparison and Zipdo’s WhatsApp marketing software roundup:
- Seat math. Growth is a 3-user plan with no extra seats. A fourth agent means a plan jump, not a small add-on. That cap was still on the WATI pricing page on 3 October 2026: “3 Users Included. No additional users.”
- Meters that stack. Broadcast caps on entry plans, automation trigger allowances, AI credit packs, and sometimes contact or monthly-active-contact tiers. The advertised price is the floor.
- Meta fees on top. Every official API tool charges Meta conversation fees. The question is whether the platform also marks up that rate card.
- Channel mix. WATI is WhatsApp-first. Teams now living in Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, email, or web chat start comparing Respond.io, SleekFlow, and ManyChat. Omnichannel here means one queue across those channels, not a second login.
- Support and onboarding. Lower plans are often ticket-based or business hours. India buyers ask who helps with blue tick, rejected templates, and quality rating.
None of that makes WATI a bad product. It is packaged like an SMB WhatsApp suite. When you outgrow that shape, move to a tool built for the new job, not to a clone with a different logo.
What WATI actually costs
WATI’s real bill is the subscription plus Meta conversation fees, not the plan price alone. On 3 October 2026 the India pricing page showed a ₹999 one-time pay-as-you-go plan for bulk campaigns only, plus Growth, Pro, and Business. Growth is still a 3-user hard cap. Message charges are “as per Wati rate card,” linked from the pricing page, not printed as rupees on the page. Alternatives claim WATI marks up Meta’s rate card. WATI does not print a markup percentage. Confirm the rate card against Meta’s country rates on your invoice before you switch.
Subscription
WATI sells Growth, Pro, and Business. This is what the pricing page showed on 3 October 2026.
| Plan | What the page showed | Users | What usually changes |
| Pay as you go | ₹999 one-time, no recurring subscription | Not a team inbox plan | Bulk campaigns only; cheapest if volume stays near the page’s ~2,100 messages in 3 months example |
| Growth | Billed annually; the rupee amount follows the country view | 3, hard cap, no additional users | 15,000 broadcasts/month, 1,000 free automation triggers, 250 AI Co-pilot credits, Wati rate card |
| Pro | Additional users at $24/user/month | 5 included | Unlimited broadcasts, 2,000 triggers, 500 AI credits, Shopify add-on at $4.99/month |
| Business | Additional users at $69/user/month | 5 included | 5,000 triggers, 1,500 AI credits, volume discounts, higher throughput |
Open the pricing page in your country. Do not treat one blog’s dollar or rupee figure as your invoice.
Meta conversation fees, including the 1 October 2026 change
These are Meta’s fees, billed through the platform. They vary by country and by category: marketing, utility, authentication, and service. A reply inside the customer-care window is not the same cost as a marketing blast. No official WATI alternative removes this layer. Only unofficial tools skip it, because they are not on the official API.
From 1 October 2026, by Messaging account timezone, Meta charges service messages. Each business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages a month. Those do not roll over. The 1,001st service message is charged, at the utility rate for that market. Utility templates inside the 24-hour customer service window are also chargeable. Messages inside the 72-hour free entry-point window from click-to-WhatsApp ads stay free, and incoming customer messages stay free. That is Meta’s rule, not a vendor discount. AiSensy’s pricing page restates the India figures it bills: marketing ₹1.09, and utility, authentication, and service ₹0.145 after the free 1,000.
Plan meters
The 3 October pricing page lists:
- a Growth broadcast cap of 15,000 per month
- automation trigger packs: 1,000 on Growth, 2,000 on Pro, 5,000 on Business, with paid top-ups
- AI Co-pilot credits that do not mean unlimited agent replies: 250 on Growth, 500 on Pro, 1,500 on Business
- extra agent pricing on Pro and Business: $24 and $69 per user per month
- Shopify sold as a $4.99/month add-on
That is why a low plan price and a much higher monthly bill can both be true.
Markup claims
WATI’s line on the pricing page is “Charged based on WATI rate card,” not a printed markup percentage. AiSensy’s WATI comparison and RichAutomate’s cheaper-for-Indian-SMB note argue the other side. Ask WATI for the rate card next to Meta’s public country rates. Ask each alternative whether Meta fees are pass-through, marked up, or bundled.
How to compare bills
Use one row:
subscription + extra seats + trigger and AI overage + Meta fees ± markup + GST
A tool that is cheaper on the subscription and more expensive on 40,000 marketing conversations is not cheaper.
Worked India bill: 10,000 marketing messages
Same job for all three: one WhatsApp number, three agents, 10,000 delivered marketing messages to Indian users in a month, no extra seats, no AI overage. Only figures printed on a vendor page on 3 October 2026 are filled in. GST at 18% applies to the platform subscription on an India invoice. Message credits may be taxed separately.
| Line | WATI Growth | AiSensy | Interakt |
| Subscription | On the pricing page, country view. Not printed as a rupee amount in the page text | On the pricing page. Conversation credits are billed separately | On the pricing page. Not printed in the page text checked |
| 10,000 India marketing messages | Wati rate card. No rupee rate printed on the page | ₹1.09 × 10,000 = ₹10,900 | On the pricing page. No rupee rate printed in the page text checked |
| Seats for 3 agents | Fits. Growth is 3 users, no add-on seat | Confirm the agent allowance on the plan you select | Confirm the agent allowance on the plan you select |
| Broadcast cap | Fits under the 15,000 Growth cap | No broadcast cap printed on the pricing page | Confirm on the live plan |
| Fourth agent | Plan jump. Growth does not sell an extra seat | Confirm before you assume seats are free | Confirm before you assume seats are free |
The only closed number in this row is AiSensy’s ₹10,900 message line. WATI can run this volume on Growth. It cannot add a fourth agent without a plan change. Interakt is the commerce trial, not the cheaper line, until its message rate is on the invoice next to AiSensy’s ₹1.09.
Pull the Wati rate card, the AiSensy wallet debit, and the Interakt message rate for the same template on the same day.
Official WhatsApp API vs unofficial tools
If you need what WATI actually sells — a business number on the official WhatsApp Cloud API, templates, quality rating, a multi-agent inbox, and a path to the green tick — pick another official platform. Linked-device tools can be cheaper. They are not the same product. AiSensy’s WhatsApp API provider overview maps that official set. DMly’s WATI, Respond.io, Interakt, and AiSensy comparison covers the same four names from a vendor page.
| Type | How it connects | What you get | What you give up |
| Official API platform | Meta Business Manager plus a provider | Templates, API-scale broadcasts, quality rating, multi-agent inbox, ads to WhatsApp | Meta conversation fees and approval time |
| Hybrid | Official API, or a standard number to start | Faster start, later upgrade path | Easy to confuse with unofficial. Check which mode you are using |
| Linked-device / WhatsApp Web | QR session on an existing app | Low platform fee, minutes to start | Green tick, official ads entry, API-grade broadcasts, session and account risk |
Some tools let you start on a normal WhatsApp number and move to the official API later. That is a real option. It is still not “WATI for $5.” Linked-device tools look cheaper because they skip Meta’s conversation fees. If your pain is Meta’s own rates, unofficial tools are cheaper because they are not in that market.
If you already invested in approved templates, click-to-WhatsApp ads, or a clean quality rating, unofficial is usually the wrong move.
When a chatbot platform is the wrong shortlist
Some comparison lists put ManyChat next to Chatbase, Chatling, and Botpress. Only ManyChat is in the same shopping trip as WATI for most teams.
ManyChat belongs here when the job is social marketing: Instagram comment-to-DM, WhatsApp as a second channel, visual flows.
Chatbase, Botpress, and Chatling belong here when the job is an AI brain that can sit on WhatsApp. They do not replace WATI’s broadcast engine, template queue, or API billing. The same split applies to storefront bots: a Shopify chatbot app can answer product questions, and it still does not replace template approval or a multi-agent WhatsApp inbox.
If the brief is “replace WATI,” a docs-trained website bot is not the shortlist.
How to choose a WATI alternative
Score each finalist on six questions. Trial the first tool that wins four of six on your actual workflow.
- Is WhatsApp access official? If no, stop unless you explicitly want unofficial.
- What grows the bill — seats, monthly active contacts, messages, AI credits, trigger packs, or stored contacts?
- Are Meta fees pass-through, marked up, or bundled? Get that in writing.
- Is the product built for broadcasts, commerce, a shared inbox, an AI agent, or a developer API?
- Which channels besides WhatsApp do you need: Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, web, email, LINE, RCS?
- Who helps you leave WATI: number reconnect, template check, contact export, flow rebuild, and support hours that match your team?
WATI and six alternatives worth a trial
WATI — when staying is the right call
WATI is an official WhatsApp-first suite: shared inbox, broadcasts, flow builder, AI tools on higher plans, and template management. Judge it on a current review page, not on a star rating copied into a blog.
Stay if the team fits the included seats, work is WhatsApp-first, templates are already approved, quality rating is clean, and the extra meters have not shown up on the invoice yet.
Leave if you need a fourth agent on Growth, broadcasts or triggers are the line you feel every month, you need a serious Instagram or omnichannel inbox, or your invoice shows a Meta markup large enough to pay for a migration.
1. AiSensy — official budget and broadcasts in India

AiSensy is a WhatsApp-first official platform for Indian SMBs and D2C marketers. It offers a limited free plan. On 3 October 2026 the AiSensy pricing page listed India message rates of ₹1.09 marketing and ₹0.145 utility, authentication, and service, with 1,000 free service messages per number per month after 1 October 2026. Conversation credits are recharged separately. Marketing pages emphasize API approval help and blue-tick support.
Best for: high-volume template broadcasts, click-to-WhatsApp ads, teams that want official API without mid-market inbox pricing.
Limits: weaker as a multi-channel operations layer than Respond.io or SleekFlow. Chatbot and CRM depth vary by plan. Confirm the current free-plan limits and the agent allowance before you treat “unlimited users” as free seats.
Choose AiSensy over WATI when the problem is campaign volume in India and you do not need a 10-channel inbox. AiSensy’s own best-of marketing software list is the vendor version of that argument.
2. Interakt — India Shopify and commerce

Interakt sells WhatsApp as the storefront: catalogs, payments, abandoned cart, order events, and a shared inbox. Read the current plan prices on the Interakt pricing page. This guide does not repeat a rupee figure the page did not print. Adding WhatsApp to a Shopify store is a separate setup from picking the provider. The practical version is how to add WhatsApp to Shopify.
Best for: Shopify and Indian D2C, especially where COD confirmation and cart recovery are the real workflows.
Limits: you still pay per-message economics. It is not a full Respond.io-style routing product. Read current reviews on the vendor’s review tabs rather than a score copied here.
Choose Interakt over WATI when WhatsApp is how the store sells, not only how support replies.
3. Respond.io — when the team has outgrown WATI

Respond.io is built for mid-market operations: WhatsApp plus Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, and email; workflow automation; AI agents on higher plans. On 3 October 2026 the Respond.io pricing page showed Advanced at $279/month, with extra users at $12, $20, or $24 a month depending on plan, and billing that scales on monthly active contacts. WhatsApp fees are not included in the subscription. The company markets zero markup on Meta rates.
Best for: several agents, more than one channel, and someone on the team who will own workflows.
Limits: more expensive than a WhatsApp-only India marketing tool at the start. A lower plan can be an inbox without the automation you thought you bought. This is operations software, not a cheap broadcast box.
Choose Respond.io over WATI when the problem is scale, routing, and channel mix — and you have checked the seat cap and the rate card against your live WATI invoice.
4. SleekFlow — APAC commerce with Instagram and WhatsApp

SleekFlow is an AI conversation suite for B2C teams on WhatsApp and Instagram, with commerce extras such as payment links and catalogs. On 3 October 2026 SleekFlow pricing listed Pro at US$109/month on yearly billing (US$1,308/year), 10 user accounts, and 500 monthly active contacts to start. Premium was US$279/month on yearly billing.
Best for: mid-market B2C that already runs ads and chats on more than WhatsApp.
Limits: priced above India broadcast tools. Model monthly active contacts, not just seats.
Choose SleekFlow over WATI when Instagram and WhatsApp are the same customer and you want one commercial inbox instead of two vendors.
5. Gallabox — AI inbox for APAC and India sales teams

Gallabox is a shared inbox plus bots and AI agents, often with Instagram in the mix. Read the current card on Gallabox pricing. Confirm current official partner or BSP status before you treat it as the same infrastructure as WATI or AiSensy.
Best for: sales teams that want bots and humans in one WhatsApp inbox without jumping to Respond.io pricing.
Limits: partner wording has been thinner than WATI in some checks. It is not the India budget pick.
Choose Gallabox over WATI when the missing piece is an AI agent in the inbox, not cheaper bulk campaigns.
6. ManyChat — social-first, not a WATI clone

ManyChat wins on Instagram and TikTok comment-to-DM, visual automation, and a real free plan for social. WhatsApp exists, but it is not WATI with a prettier builder. WhatsApp access usually sits on paid WhatsApp-capable plans. If the comparison you actually need is social automation rather than a WhatsApp provider, start with ManyChat alternatives for 2026, not another WhatsApp inbox.
Best for: creators and social brands whose first conversation is a comment or a Story, with WhatsApp as a second channel.
Limits: if the whole operation is WhatsApp broadcasts, templates, and a Business API inbox, ManyChat is the wrong leader.
Choose ManyChat over WATI when the job is social conversation, not WhatsApp operations.
Other tools that fit a narrower job
These are not drop-in WATI replacements. They fit a narrower brief. RichAutomate’s four-way India comparison and its feature table against WATI, AiSensy, and Interakt are examples of that narrower pitch.
- Landbot — same visual builder for website chat and WhatsApp. Useful for qualification funnels. You still need official WhatsApp access behind it, and it does not replace a full BSP inbox.
- WhatChimp — official API, with its own markup and broadcast claims. Verify partner status and the markup claim on a sample invoice.
- Wassenger — official API plus an optional non-API number, developer REST API.
- 360dialog, Twilio, Gupshup — infrastructure. You bring the inbox.
- Kommo and similar CRMs — WhatsApp inside a sales pipeline. Right when the problem is follow-up, not broadcasts.
- Omnichat — relevant if the market is Hong Kong, LINE, or WeChat commerce.
WATI vs AiSensy vs Respond.io
AiSensy if the job is cheaper official broadcasts in India. Respond.io if the job is mid-market omnichannel operations after WATI’s seats and caps. WATI if the job is still a small WhatsApp-first inbox and the extra meters have not hit you.
| WATI | AiSensy | Respond.io | |
| Job it wins | Default SMB WhatsApp suite | India campaigns | Scale, routing, extra channels |
| Price printed on 3 Oct 2026 | ₹999 one-time pay-as-you-go; Growth, Pro, and Business geo-priced | Marketing ₹1.09; utility, authentication, and service ₹0.145 in India | Advanced $279/month; extra users $12–$24 |
| Seats | Growth capped at 3. Pro and Business include 5, then $24 or $69 | Confirm on the plan. “Unlimited users” on the page means contacts | Contact-based billing, with paid extra users |
| Meta fees | “Wati rate card.” No markup percentage printed | Printed India rates above. Pass-through is not stated | Fees excluded from the subscription. Zero markup is the vendor claim |
| Channels | WhatsApp-first, with Instagram, Messenger, and TikTok named on Growth | WhatsApp-first | WhatsApp plus Instagram and others |
| When it loses | The team outgrows 3 seats, or the rate card is higher than a pass-through provider | You need serious omnichannel operations | You only needed cheap broadcasts |
When you should stay on WATI
Stay if most of these are true:
- three or fewer agents on Growth, or you already sit on Pro and extra seats are acceptable
- WhatsApp is most of inbound
- broadcast and trigger allowances cover the month
- templates are approved and quality rating is healthy
- you have not proven a Meta markup large enough to pay for a migration
Switching has a cost: flows rebuilt, agents retrained, a clean inbox on day one, and a possible quality-rating dip. A cheaper subscription does not automatically win.
Can you keep your WhatsApp number if you leave WATI?
Yes. The number and the WhatsApp Business Account live in Meta Business Manager, not inside WATI. You disconnect the current provider and connect the new one to the same account. You do not buy a new number for a normal provider-to-provider move.
What usually moves:
- the phone number
- the WhatsApp Business Account
- display name and most business-profile fields
- approved message templates, in most moves — some providers still ask you to resubmit
- contacts you export as a CSV, with opt-in source documented
What usually does not move:
- full chat history inside WATI
- flow and chatbot logic
- tags, sequences, and dashboards
- webhooks and Zapier zaps
- agent assignments
What can dip:
- quality rating during a messy cutover
- template delivery if you send a large marketing batch before the number is cleanly connected
A practical cutover:
- Export contacts and document marketing opt-in.
- List the ten templates and three flows that make money. Rebuild those first.
- Connect the number on the new provider in a maintenance window. Do not assume two providers can send on the same number at once.
- Send a small utility or service batch before the next marketing blast.
- Keep WATI readable for two weeks so agents can search old threads even if new chats land elsewhere.
Zero downtime, history intact, done in an afternoon” is an onboarding promise. History intact is the part to distrust first.
