TL;DR
AI influencers that actually get paid do not live on brand deals. They run a locked face, cheap compute, a product they own, and a way to answer comments. The persona cannot sit in the inbox.
- Yang Mun (~2.5M IG): $24 ebook + $50 course. ~$213K gross in 90 days on a dashboard. $300K "profit" is self-reported.
- Aitana Lopez (~400K IG): brand deals + Fanvue. Peak ~€10K/month, average closer to €3K. Creator-stated.
- Granny Spills: 1M IG in ~22 days. TikTok cut creator-fund money. Cameo + brand placements kept the account alive.
- Kyra (India): brand deals with boAt and L'Oréal. The useful quote: 400K people tried to talk to her.
- Higgsfield Passes operator: ~$12,500/month. Paid DMs beat the first brand deals.
- Lu do Magalu: ~$34K per sponsored post. Corporate mascot. Ceiling, not a weekend project.
If you want the build walkthrough, start with how to create an AI influencer on Instagram in 2026. This post is how the money moves after the character exists.
How much do AI influencers actually make?
Follower count is a weak predictor of income. Yang Mun at 2.5 million Instagram followers, selling his own products, out-earns much larger brand-deal accounts. Per-follower revenue is the number that matters.
Platform payouts are a bad plan. Instagram's Reels Play Bonus is gone. TikTok regularly flags AI accounts as unoriginal. The operators who survive that treat Instagram as the traffic source, not the cash register.
A lot of dollar figures online are course-funnel posts. The table below splits dashboard-backed numbers from operator claims. Treat the second column as directional.
| Avatar | Operator | Followers (approx) | Money mix | What is sourced |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yang Mun | Shalev Hani, solo | 2.5M IG | $24 ebook, $50 course, $799/hr coaching | ~$213K gross in 90 days (dashboard). One ebook ~$11,275/mo. $300K "profit" is self-reported. |
| Aitana Lopez | The Clueless, Barcelona | ~400K IG | Brand deals, Fanvue, supplements | Peak ~€10K/month, average closer to €3K. Creator-stated, widely reported. |
| Granny Spills | Blur Studios | ~2M IG, ~1.2M Facebook | Brand (Kurt Geiger, Papi Steak), Cameo, Facebook/YouTube ads | Growth and production time in TIME. Monthly revenue not disclosed. |
| Kyra | FUTR Studios, India | ~250K IG | boAt, L'Oréal, Titan, Amazon Prime Video | Studio reported ~Rs 1.25–1.5 crore in brand revenue. 400K monthly chat users. |
| Higgsfield Passes operator | Anonymous | ~50K in 30 days | Passes subs, paid DMs, PPV, two $1K stories | ~$12,500/month on Passes vs $3,500 on OnlyFans. Operator-reported in The AI Journal. |
| Lu do Magalu | Magazine Luiza (corporate) | 7–9M IG | 74 sponsored posts | ~$2.5M in a year, ~$34K per post (Inc). Not an indie play. |
NY Post interviewed a quieter mid-tier in 2026: Mia Metaverse around $4,500–$6,000 a month, Ayushi Anand's digital twin $6,000–$9,000, a Polish fitness avatar $2,100. Those are the numbers a new operator should expect, not Yang Mun's first 90 days.
We already walked the Yang Mun case from a faceless-ops angle in faceless Instagram automation in 2026. This piece is the money mix across six different models.
How did Yang Mun make money with a $24 ebook?
Yang Mun is a saffron-robed monk delivering 30–60 second wisdom clips. He has about 2.5 million Instagram followers on @yangmunus, plus a second IG, Facebook, and TikTok. The operator is Shalev Hani, a solo creator in Israel. No agency. No on-camera talent. About 20 minutes per video.
The income is not sponsorships. It is a product ladder:
- "The Way Back to Stillness," ebook, $23.99. Still doing about $11,275 a month from that one file, according to public Whop/EBU figures.
- "30-Day Healing Journey" course, $49.99.
- A premium bundle around $61, plus an Inner Circle subscription.
- $799 an hour coaching other people on how to build AI characters.
VirtualHumans published dashboard screenshots for about $213,000 gross in the first 90 days. Hani posted $300,000 profit on X. That second number is his claim, not an audited P&L. Columbia News Service reported he declined a $325,000 buyout for the persona and billed the outlet $700 for the interview.
Tools, all off-the-shelf: ChatGPT for scripts, Nano Banana for stills, Google Veo for video, ElevenLabs for voice, HeyGen plus Infinitetalk for lip-sync. Tooling cost in the $200–$500 a month range.
The lesson other blogs bury: audience-monetization per follower. A spirituality account with a $24 file and a $50 upsell can clear more than a fashion account that only waits for Prada. If you run wellness content as a human, the same mechanic shows up in how spiritual creators use Instagram DMs.
What the case does not show is the inbox. A 2.5 million follower account posting daily wisdom gets "what book is that," "send the course," "is this real" on every Reel. Hani cannot answer those by hand. Comment GUIDE or COURSE, auto-DM the checkout, collect the email. That is the missing layer.

How does Aitana Lopez make money as an AI influencer?
Aitana is the case every tool vendor copies, and for a reason. Rubén Cruz at The Clueless in Barcelona built her in 2023 because human models kept cancelling. Pink hair. Fitness and lifestyle. Stable Diffusion and custom LoRAs at the start, not a $125 million CGI studio like Lil Miquela.
She went from zero to a few hundred thousand Instagram followers in months. The Clueless has said she can hit around €10,000 in a good month and averages closer to €3,000. Brand partners have included sports supplements (Big), Amazon, and a Fanvue presence. Per-ad rates sit around €1,000 and up.
Two things made her copyable:
- A face you can spot in one second of scroll. Pink hair is the whole media kit.
- They disclosed she is AI. Curiosity did not kill the account. It fed it.
Aitana is also the trap. Fitness and pretty-girl fashion is the most crowded AI lane in 2026. Brand deals lag follower count by 60–90 days, and plenty of brands still will not work with synthetic talent. If you copy Aitana without a product of your own, you are waiting on inbound email.
The faster path for a fitness persona is the one fitness coaches already use: a $27–$37 workout PDF, comment PLAN, DM the file the same day the Reel hits. Wait for the supplement deal if it comes. Do not make it the only plan.

How did Granny Spills grow to 1 million followers in 22 days?
Granny Spills is an all-pink grandmother with no filter. "Flowers die, honey. My Chanel bags are forever" is the clip TIME quoted. Eric Suarez and Adam Vaserstein at Blur Studios in New York run her. They also run a Bigfoot, a street interviewer, and a fitness instructor. One studio, several personas.
TIME's November 2025 investigation is the primary source. She hit about 1 million Instagram followers in her first weeks (Blur Studios later said 22 days). Production is 5–10 minutes per video. Claude writes concepts. Veo generates the clip. Dozens of Reels a month.
TikTok demonetized her for "unoriginal" content. That is the part operators should remember. Instagram, Facebook (~1.2 million), YouTube, and Cameo kept paying. Named brand work includes Kurt Geiger and Papi Steak. The founders told TIME that US buyers still hesitate to spend on an AI granny's product recommendation. Reach was easy. Trust at checkout was not.
Blur Studios is the roster model. Five characters, one team, shared production pipeline. The bottleneck is not generating video. It is answering comments on five accounts that can pop overnight. Comment-to-DM is how a small studio stays in the thread without hiring a night shift.

How does Kyra make money with Indian brand deals?
Kyra is India's first widely covered virtual influencer, built by FUTR Studios (Himanshu Goel and George Tharian) in Bengaluru. CGI at launch in 2022, later a full AI stack. Fashion, travel, a Mumbai backstory.
Brand work is the public story: boAt, L'Oréal, Titan, Realme, American Tourister, Amazon Prime Video. The studio has talked about Rs 1.25–1.5 crore in brand revenue across Kyra's campaigns. Some branded clips cleared tens of millions of views. Naina Avtr, a later Indian persona from Avtr Meta Labs, pushed past 400,000 followers with Nykaa, Puma, and Pepsi.
The more useful quote is not the brand list. Goel said followers did not just want to watch Kyra. They wanted to talk to her. FUTR built a companion product. Over 400,000 people message their characters in a typical month.
That is the operator insight hiding inside a brand-deal case study. The character generates inbound DMs at a volume no human community manager can cover. FUTR solved it by leaving Instagram for a chat product. Most indie operators will not do that. They need the conversation to stay in Instagram, which is what InstantDM for AI influencers is built for: keyword replies, story replies, and a flow that can collect an email when someone asks "are you real?" for the thousandth time.

Can an AI influencer make $12,500 a month without brand deals?
The AI Journal walked through an anonymous operator who spent about $77 a month on Higgsfield, Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude. One lifestyle persona. About 50,000 Instagram followers in 30 days.
By day 60 the Passes.com run-rate was about $12,500 a month:
- ~$7,500 subscriptions (around 700 people at $9.99, some on a higher tier)
- ~$3,000 paid DMs and custom content
- ~$1,500 pay-per-view drops
- ~$500 tips
Same audience on OnlyFans did about $3,500. The platform split mattered. Passes at 90/10 beat OnlyFans at 80/20, and OnlyFans is hostile to fully AI creators anyway. Fanvue is the usual SFW/NSFW alternative. Brand deals in the first 90 days: two Instagram stories at $1,000 each. $2,000 total. The DMs paid more than the brands.
Emily Pellegrini is the earlier version of this model. Midjourney "dream girl," Fanvue, about $10,000 in six weeks, later a Fortune-reported peak month around $23,000. The million-dollar headlines around her include a course, not platform payouts. Footballers and MMA fighters DMed her thinking she was a person. That is a real revenue stream and a real ethics problem. Disclose. Do not run a fake dating inbox.
If you take one number from this case, take the $3,000 from paid messages. Instagram can do a clean version of that without the romance grift: comment FAN or SET, DM the Fanvue or photo-pack link, follow up once if they do not click.
How much does a corporate AI influencer like Lu do Magalu make?
Lu is the face of Brazilian retailer Magazine Luiza. Millions of Instagram followers. Kapwing's analysis of 74 sponsored posts over a year put her around $2.5 million, or about $34,000 a post, with names like Netflix and Hugo Boss on the list. Inc compared that to average human-influencer pay and got a 40x headline.
Use Lu as a ceiling, not a template. She is a company mascot with a production team and a retail parent. Lil Miquela (Prada, Calvin Klein, BMW) sits in the same bucket: studio IP, not a one-person Higgsfield account. A BMW run of seven Instagram posts was estimated at $168,000 in earned media value. That is agency math.
Indie operators should steal one idea from Lu and ignore the rest. She posts product, constantly. The character is a catalog. Your version is a $24 file, a $37 plan, or an affiliate stack, delivered in the DM, not a magazine cover.
How do AI influencers sell digital products on Instagram?
Yang Mun is the cleanest owned-product case. The same ladder shows up everywhere else once you look:
| Niche | What they sell | Typical price | Checkout |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wellness / spirituality | Ebook, 30-day course, inner circle | $24 → $50 → $799/hr | Whop, Stan |
| Fitness | Workout PDF, meal plan | $15–$97 | Stan, Gumroad |
| AI / tools | Prompt packs, workflow PDFs | $19–$99 | Gumroad, Stan |
| Fashion / beauty | Presets, lookbooks | $9–$40 | Gumroad, LTK |
| Tutorial / meta | "How I built this" course | $97–$497 | Stan, Whop, Skool |
| ASMR / mukbang | Viral blueprint PDF | $27–$47 | Gumroad |
Gumroad, Stan Store, Whop, and Fanvue/Passes cover almost every SKU. If you are picking a storefront, we compared Gumroad alternatives for digital products. The storefront is not the hard part. Getting the buyer from a Reel to the file, without a five-step link-in-bio, is the hard part.
The working funnel looks like this:
- Reel with a single-word CTA. "Comment GUIDE and I will send it."
- Public reply on the comment ("sent"). That reply is an algorithm signal, not politeness.
- Instant DM with the file or checkout link.
- Email capture on delivery, because Meta can throttle the account tomorrow.
- One follow-up if they do not click.
- Upsell. Free PDF to $27 ebook to $97 course.
That is the same comment-to-DM system course creators and ecommerce shops already run. The AI influencer needs it more, not less, because there is no human behind the face to type "thanks, here is the link."

How should each AI influencer use comment-to-DM?
Higgsfield, Kling, Veo, and Nano Banana make the face. They do not close the sale. Here is the keyword map if you are copying one of the six:
| If you are building… | Caption CTA | InstantDM sends |
|---|---|---|
| Yang Mun-style wellness | Comment GUIDE or HEAL | $24 ebook link, then course upsell |
| Aitana-style fitness | Comment PLAN or WORKOUT | 12-week PDF, affiliate stack second |
| Granny-style character | Comment TIP or RECIPE | Email capture + Cameo or merch |
| Kyra-style regional fashion | Comment LOOK or SHOP | Lookbook PDF or brand affiliate |
| Passes / Fanvue persona | Comment FAN or SET | Subscription link, PPV drop |
| Tutorial / shovel-seller | Comment TOOL or PROMPT | Prompt pack, then the $97 course |
Setup is the same three steps we use on human accounts: connect Instagram, add the keyword flow, put the CTA in the caption. Official Meta API. Legend Pro is $9.99/month as of August 2026, flat rate, unlimited contacts. No per-contact spike when a Reel pops. Full walkthrough: how to send a link when someone comments on Instagram. For the AI-educator version (prompt libraries, tool lists), see the AI influencers landing page.
Schedule the post and the automation together. Granny-scale comment volume in the first hour is the money window. If the flow goes live 40 minutes after publish, you already missed the people who would have bought. Scheduling posts with auto DM is the unglamorous half of this.

What should you copy from these AI influencer cases?
Copy the product ladder. Yang Mun's $24 file paid more than most brand-deal accounts at 10x the following. Start selling on day one, not at 50,000 followers.
Copy the locked face. Inconsistent characters die. Higgsfield Soul ID, Nano Banana Pro, or a trained LoRA. The 2026 default video stack is Kling 3 / Seedance 2 / Veo 3.1, not last year's D-ID-only talking head. We keep a wider tool list in AI tools for social media content creation and 60 Claude prompts for creators.
Copy the roster only after one account pays. Blur Studios runs five. Most people should run one.
Ignore "Lil Miquela makes $10 million." That is a studio with a decade of IP.
Ignore unlabeled thirst-trap accounts. Aitana disclosed and grew. Accounts that hide the AI label get restricted. Meta has an AI creator tag and a per-post AI info toggle. Use them. The EU AI Act's Article 50 disclosure rules started applying in August 2026 for EU distribution. Instagram automation on the official API is the same idea: stay on the documented path.
Ignore follower count as a business plan. A 30,000-follower wellness character with a $27 PDF and a working DM flow will beat a 200,000-follower fashion grid that only says "link in bio."
For the human-creator side of this shift, we already wrote AI influencers on Instagram: what creators must know. You will not beat a Veo account on polish. You can still beat it on a real product review and a fast DM.
How much can you actually make with an AI influencer in 2026?
Conservative, if you actually sell something:
- Under 10K followers: $0–$300/month. Affiliates and a cheap PDF. Many accounts make nothing. That is normal.
- 10K–50K: $300–$2,500/month if you have a product and you answer comments.
- 50K–100K: $2,000–$8,000/month stacking a storefront, one affiliate, and maybe a small brand test.
- 100K–500K: $8,000–$40,000/month for operators with a course or talent representation. Wide range. Niche decides it.
- Corporate CGI names: a different industry.
Production cost per Reel in the public cases is roughly $1–$15 of compute. A 100K account posting daily is a tooling bill in the low hundreds, not a studio. The unpaid work is the inbox, unless you automate it.
What should you do next to monetize an AI influencer?
The six cases do not agree on niche, tools, or whether the character should look like a model. They agree on three operating rules.
The persona is a traffic source. The product is the business. Yang Mun's ebook is the proof.
Platform money is optional. Granny lost TikTok payouts and kept the account. Own the checkout.
Someone has to answer. Kyra's studio learned that 400,000 people wanted a conversation. An AI face cannot type. InstantDM can, on Meta's API, at $9.99 a month as of August 2026, before the comment thread goes cold.
Pick one character. Pick one $24–$47 file. Put a keyword on the caption. Send the file when they comment. That is the whole model, and it is sitting in the public receipts.
