What is the InstantDM Instagram MCP server?
It's a hosted MCP endpoint that lets AI agents like Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, OpenClaw, and Hermes Agent run your Instagram through InstantDM: publishing, comments, DMs, inbox, insights, and ad comments. You paste one URL into your client. There's nothing to install and no code to run.
How do I connect Claude or ChatGPT to Instagram?
Generate an API key at app.instantdm.com/api-integration, then add https://openapi.instantdm.com/mcp?auth=YOUR_KEY as a custom connector in claude.ai (Settings → Connectors) or in ChatGPT's developer mode (Settings → Apps & Connectors). In Claude Code it's one command: claude mcp add --transport http instantdm "<that URL>".
Can AI publish posts and reels to my Instagram account?
Yes. create_post uploads and publishes images, reels, stories, and carousels from public media URLs through Instagram's official content publishing API. The instagram-manager skill that ships with it makes the agent show you the media and caption before anything goes live.
Is Instagram DM automation through MCP allowed?
Yes, as long as it runs on the official Instagram API with a Meta-approved app. InstantDM is an official Meta Business Partner, and every message and post goes through Meta's endpoints with Instagram's rate limits and messaging windows enforced.
Is this a ManyChat alternative?
