Saved Captions Library

Stop rewriting the same captions and hashtags from scratch. Save your best-performing text as reusable templates and insert them with one click.

What Is the Saved Captions Library?

The saved captions library is a built-in feature within InstantDM's post scheduling tool (the Later section). It lets you store captions, hashtag sets, calls-to-action, and any other text you use repeatedly when creating Instagram posts.

Instead of copying and pasting from a notes app or retyping the same hashtags every time, you save them once in the library and insert them with a single click whenever you schedule a new post. It's a simple time-saver that keeps your messaging consistent across all your content.

Where to Find It

The saved captions library lives inside the Later (Schedule) section of InstantDM. Here's how to access it:

  1. Navigate to Later in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Create to start a new scheduled post (or click on an existing one to edit it).
  3. In the caption editor, look for the Saved Captions button.
  4. Click it to open your library of saved templates.

You can also manage your saved captions directly from the library view — editing, renaming, or deleting templates without needing to be in the middle of scheduling a post.

Saving a New Caption

There are two ways to save a caption to your library:

Method 1: Save While Scheduling

  1. Open the post scheduling editor in the Later section.
  2. Write your caption in the text editor.
  3. Click Save as Template.
  4. Give the template a name (e.g., "Product Launch CTA" or "Fitness Hashtags").
  5. The caption is now saved in your library for future use.

Method 2: Create Directly in the Library

  1. Open the Saved Captions library.
  2. Click New Caption.
  3. Write your caption text.
  4. Give it a descriptive name.
  5. Click Save.

Loading a Saved Caption

When you're scheduling a new post and want to use a saved caption:

  1. Click the Saved Captions button in the caption editor.
  2. Browse your library or search by name.
  3. Click on the caption you want to use.
  4. The text is inserted into the caption editor.
  5. Edit the inserted text as needed — add post-specific details, swap out a link, or tweak the wording.

Loading a saved caption doesn't lock you in. You can modify the text freely after inserting it. The original template in your library stays unchanged.

Editing and Deleting Saved Captions

Your library isn't static. You can update templates as your strategy evolves:

  • Edit — Open a saved caption, modify the text or name, and save the changes. All future uses will pull the updated version.
  • Delete — Remove a caption you no longer need. This doesn't affect any posts that already used the template — it only removes it from the library.

What to Save in Your Library

You can save any text as a template. Here are the most common use cases:

Template TypeWhat to IncludeExample
Hashtag setsGroups of hashtags organized by topic#fitness #workout #gym #healthylifestyle #fitfam
Standard CTAsCalls-to-action you use across posts"Comment LINK below to get the free guide in your DMs! 📩"
Recurring formatsTemplates for regular content series"📌 Tip of the Day: [topic]\n\n[tip text]\n\nSave this for later! 🔖"
Bio link CTAsDirecting followers to your link"Full details on the link in bio 👆"
Engagement promptsQuestions and conversation starters"Which one is your favorite? Drop a number below! 👇"

Organizing Your Library

As your library grows, good naming conventions make a big difference. Here are some tips for keeping things organized:

  • Use descriptive names like "Fitness Hashtags - General" or "Product Launch CTA - Discount".
  • Group related templates with a common prefix (e.g., "Hashtags - Fitness", "Hashtags - Travel", "Hashtags - Food").
  • Include the content type in the name so you can quickly identify what each template is for.
  • Periodically review and clean up templates you no longer use.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Save your top-performing hashtag sets. Track which hashtag groups drive the most reach and save them as templates. Rotate between 3–5 sets to keep your content fresh.
  • Create templates for each content pillar. If you post about fitness, recipes, and mindset, create separate caption templates for each category.
  • Include placeholder text. Use brackets like [product name] or [date] in your templates as reminders to customize before posting.
  • Update templates regularly. Hashtag performance changes over time. Review and refresh your saved sets every month or two.
  • Use templates for consistency, not laziness. Always personalize the caption for each specific post. Templates are a starting point, not a finished product.
