How do I automate all my posts, including future ones?

  • Works on: Web app, iPhone app, Android app
  • Plan: Legend Pro and above

Short answer

Click New Automation, choose Comment to DM, then All posts, and pick what to send. Comments on every post, including posts you upload later, then get this automation. A post with its own automation keeps it. All-posts automations are on Legend Pro and above.

Before you start

Steps

  1. On Home, click New Automation.
  2. Click Comment to DM.
  3. Under “Which posts?”, click All posts (“Every post, including new ones”).
  4. Tick Instagram. Tick Facebook too if you want the same automation on your Page (“Pick both platforms to set it up for Instagram and Facebook together.”).
    • You’ll see: “Comments on every Instagram post get this automation, including posts you upload later. A post with its own automation keeps it.”
  5. Click Next, then choose what to send: Send Link & PDF, Lead Gen or Flow Automation.
    • Flow Automation is hidden when both platforms are ticked.
  6. In the editor, add trigger words (or choose All comments), set the public reply and write the DM.
    • With both platforms ticked, the editor shows “Publishing saves this for all posts on both Instagram and Facebook.”
  7. Click Publish.

Other way in: open Quick Automation → Instagram → Posts and expand Global Posts Automation (“Automate all posts in one go”). Click Create First Automation, or + Add New if you already have one. Each existing all-posts automation is listed with its trigger words (“Any Comment / Reply” for the catch-all) and an Edit button.

On the phone app

Tap Instagram on Home, open the Posts tab and tap Quick Global Automation (“Automate all posts & stories at once”). Under Posts Automation, tap + Add Posts Automation, or Edit › on an existing one. Build it in the usual editor and tap Publish. The Facebook screen has its own Quick Global Automation for Page posts.

What your followers see

The same as on a single post: a DM after they comment your word, and a public reply if you turned it on. They can’t tell whether the automation is on that post only or on all posts.

Good to know

  • In the posts grid, posts covered only by your all-posts automation show the tag Global Automated. Posts with their own automation show Automated.
  • A post’s own automation always comes first. If its trigger words don’t match a comment, the all-posts automation gets a chance. Details: Which automation runs?
  • Give each all-posts automation its own trigger words. Don’t use the same word in two of them.
  • Stories work the same way: Story to DM → All stories. See How do I auto-reply when someone replies to my story?
  • Re-run missed comments works only on a single post, not on an all-posts automation.

What you can’t do

  • Leave out certain posts, except by giving those posts their own automation.
  • Use Flow Automation on Instagram and Facebook in one automation.
  • Put an all-posts automation into an Automation Group.

How to turn it off

In Quick Automation → Instagram → Posts, expand Global Posts Automation, click Edit on the automation, switch off its Send Link or PDF card (or Lead Gen card) and click Disable.

If it doesn’t work

  • “Saved for Instagram, but Facebook failed…”: the Instagram part is live. Check your Facebook Page connection, then set up the Facebook side again.
  • A post answers with its own DM instead: that post has its own automation, which comes first.
  • New posts get nothing: check the comment contains one of the all-posts trigger words, then see Why didn’t my automation send a DM?

Questions people also ask

What happens to posts that already have their own automation?

They keep it. The all-posts automation only answers a post that has no automation of its own, or a comment that doesn't match the post's own trigger words.

Can I have more than one all-posts automation?

Yes. Each one can have its own trigger words, so GUIDE can send one DM and PRICE another. One of them can use All comments as a catch-all.

Can I set it up for Instagram and Facebook together?

Yes, in New Automation tick both Instagram and Facebook. One automation is saved for each platform. You need a connected Facebook Page, and Flow Automation can't be used for both at once.
