Build a Flow Automation: a Comment Reply trigger on your Reel, Name and Email questions, then a button message with your calendar link and an I booked it button, plus a reminder if they don't tap. Send emails to Kit or Mailchimp with On every answer. InstantDM can't see whether someone actually booked. Trendsetter and above.
This uses Flow Automation, a multi-step chat you build on a computer. It needs Trendsetter and above.
Have your booking link ready (Calendly, Cal.com, Google Calendar or any other).
InstantDM can’t see your calendar. It never knows for sure who booked.
Optional: connect Kit or Mailchimp in Account Settings → Integrations first.
Steps
Click Flow Automation in the sidebar, then New Flow Automation, then Instagram.
Under Or start from a template, click Link Delivery + Reminder (in Engagement), then Use this template. It already has a button message and a 30-minute reminder.
Click the Trigger card. Under Comment Reply:
Step 1 · Select the posts: choose IG Posts and click your Reel.
Step 2 · Trigger word: remove the template’s words “link” and “guide”. Keep Custom Word, type CALL and click Add.
Step 3 · Welcome message: delete the sample sentence that is already there and type your own, for example “Want a free 20-minute call? Tap below.” Set the button text, for example “Yes, show me”.
Step 4 · Reply to comment: add 2 or 3 public replies, like “Sent you a DM”.
Click +, choose Question, then Name. Then add a Collect Email step from the bottom toolbar.
Right-click the line from the trigger to the button message and choose Delete connection. Then connect the steps in order: the trigger’s dot → Name question → Email question → the button message.
Click the button message. Change the title, for example “Pick a time that works for you”.
Click its Open Link button. Keep the type URL, rename it “Book a call” and replace https://example.com/replace-me with your booking link.
Click Add Button, choose type Regular, and name it “I booked it”.
Add a DM Reply step that says “Thanks, see you on the call.” Connect the “I booked it” button’s dot to it.
Under Follow Up on the button message, set the wait, for example 3 Hour (24 hours at most). Edit the reminder step the template connected to “If no reply in …”.
Optional: click Integrations, switch on Kit (ConvertKit) or Mailchimp, choose On every answer and click Done.
Click Preview to check the main path, then Set Live.
On the phone app
You can’t build or edit flows in the app. To see who went through the flow and what they answered, tap Flows on the app’s Home and tap the flow.
What your followers see
They comment “CALL” on your Reel. A public reply appears under their comment.
They get a DM with your welcome text and one button. Nothing else happens until they tap it.
They’re asked for their name, then their email.
They get a card with Book a call (opens your calendar) and I booked it.
If they don’t reply or tap I booked it within your wait time, they get your reminder.
Good to know
Use On every answer for Kit or Mailchimp. This flow ends on a button message, so it never counts as “completed” and On flow completion would send nothing.
Typed answers must come within 1 hour of the question. Write your questions so people answer quickly.
To send the link only to good fits, add a question with choices and a Condition step. See different messages by answer.
Link taps show in Insights → Link Clicks. A tap is not a booking.
Who entered the flow and their answers: flow results.
What you can’t do
See or confirm real bookings.
Send reminders more than 24 hours later, or message people who never replied.
Cancel the reminder when someone taps a link button. Only a reply or a Regular button tap cancels it.
How to turn it off
In Flow Automation, flip the flow’s switch off and confirm “Unpublish this automation?”. It moves to Draft.
If it doesn’t work
“Comment Reply: A welcome message title is required.” or “At least one comment response word is required.”: fill in Step 3 and Step 4 of the trigger.
People get the first DM and nothing else: they didn’t tap the welcome button. Make the welcome text ask them to tap.
The phone or name answer is rejected: see answer rules.
