Short answer
Open Account Settings, go to Safety & Limits, and click Connect on the Facebook Page card. Log in to Facebook, allow every permission, and pick the Page that is linked to the same Instagram account you connected in InstantDM.
Connecting your Facebook Page is what lets InstantDM answer comments on your Page posts, reply in Messenger and see your Instagram ads.
Before you start
- You need a Facebook Page that you manage (admin access).
- The Page must be linked to the same Instagram account you connected in InstantDM. To link them, in the Instagram app go to Profile → Edit profile and link your Facebook Page.
- Connecting a Page changes how InstantDM connects to your Instagram (it now goes through Facebook). Read Should I connect with Instagram or with Facebook? first.
Steps
- Click Account Settings in the sidebar and open the Safety & Limits tab.
- On the Facebook Page card, click Connect (or Re-Connect if it’s already connected).
- On “Connect FB Page with IG Account”, click Connect FB Page (on a phone-size screen: Connect Account).
- Log in to Facebook. Keep every permission switched on and continue.
- On “Choose your IG account”, click the Page that shows your Instagram username.
- If only one Page matches your account, InstantDM connects it for you (“Auto-connecting your account…”).
- You’ll see “Account Linked” and land on Home.
- Back in Account Settings → Safety & Limits, the Facebook Page card now says Connected.
On the phone app
The app can’t log in to Facebook. Tap Facebook on Home, then Connect Facebook. Your browser opens the InstantDM website. Finish the steps there, then come back to the app and pull down to refresh.
Good to know
- After connecting, a Facebook DM automation card appears on Safety & Limits. It should say Active before Messenger replies work. See How do I auto-reply to Messenger keywords?
- While your Page is connected, Connect Instagram Directly is refused with “Your account is connected through a Facebook Page. Please reconnect using your Facebook Page instead of connecting Instagram directly.”
- The Automate Post sent to your DM switch needs a direct Instagram connection. With a Page connected, it asks you to reconnect Instagram.
What you can’t do
- Connect a Page that is linked to a different Instagram account.
- Connect a Page with no Instagram account.
- Use Instagram Login and Facebook Login at the same time.
How to switch back to Instagram Login
- Go to Account Settings → Safety & Limits → Facebook Page → Disconnect.
- Confirm. The message reads “You will lose FB Automations. IG Connection will be re-activated.”
- Then reconnect Instagram directly: on the Instagram Account card click Re-Connect, or use Connect Instagram Directly, and approve every permission.
Your Facebook Page and Messenger automations stop. Your Instagram automations are kept.
If it doesn’t work
- Connection Mismatch (“This Facebook Page is linked to @… but your account is connected to @…”) → you picked a Page linked to another Instagram. Click Reconnect Correct FB Page and choose the right one.
- A Page card says “⚠️ Different from your current IG” → that Page belongs to another Instagram account. Pick a different Page.
- “Your Instagram and Facebook are not linked properly” → link your Instagram to the Page in the Instagram app (Profile → Edit profile), then reconnect. The page also says to remove ManyChat’s connection only if you connected with ManyChat.
- Your Page isn’t in the list → log in to Facebook with a profile that is an admin of the Page, and keep all Pages selected when Facebook asks.
- “Facebook conection expired! Automation Stopped.” (this typo is in the app) → click Connect Instagram via FB Page and log in again.
