How do I share a flow or import one someone shared?

  • Works on: Web app
  • Plan: Trendsetter and above

Short answer

Open the flow, click the ⋮ menu at the top right and choose Share. A link is copied, and anyone with that link can import a copy of the flow. To import, open a link you were sent and click Copy as New Automation (or Login to Copy). The copy is a draft: pick your own posts and click Set Live.

A share link lets someone else, or you on another account, import a copy of your flow.

Before you start

  • You need Trendsetter and above to build and publish flows.
  • Remove anything private from the flow before you share it. Links, coupon codes, prices, AI instructions and HTTP Request headers (which may hold a secret key) all go with the copy.

Steps

  1. Click Flow Automation in the left sidebar and open the flow.
  2. Click the ⋮ menu at the top right of the editor and choose Share.
  3. You’ll see “Share link copied” and “Anyone with this link can import a copy of this flow:” with the link. It’s already copied.
  4. Send the link to the person.
  5. If someone sent you a link: open it in your browser. You’ll see the flow name, “Shared by” and the sharer’s name.
  6. Click Copy as New Automation. If you’re not logged in, click Login to Copy (or “Don’t have an account? Sign up”). After you log in, Home shows Pending Shared Automation: click Copy Now.
  7. The copy opens in an older-style editor, named ” - from - ”. Go back to Flow Automation and open the copy from the list.
  8. Click the Trigger card, pick your own posts or stories, and check every step’s text and links.
  9. Click Set Live.

On the phone app

You can’t share or import flows in the InstantDM app. Use the web app at app.instantdm.com on a computer.

What your followers see

Nothing until you click Set Live on the imported copy.

Anyone who gets the link can import a copy, and links don’t expire. Share links only with people you trust, and don’t post them publicly unless you want anyone to copy the flow.

Good to know

  • The link is a snapshot. Later edits to your flow are not in it. Click Share again for a new link.
  • Each click on Share makes a new link. Older links keep working.
  • The sharer’s selected posts don’t exist on your account. Always pick your own in the Trigger card.
  • The list may show an imported copy as Live before you’ve published it. Open it and click Set Live anyway so it really runs.
  • To reuse a flow on another account you manage, share it, switch accounts, and import it. See reuse a flow on another account.

What you can’t do

  • Share with only one specific person.
  • Make a view-only link.
  • Share a whole folder.
  • Switch off or delete a share link in the app.

How to turn it off

Imported flows are normal flows. Switch off the row in Flow Automation and click Yes, Unpublish. See turn a flow on or off.

If it doesn’t work

  • “Failed to create share link” → reload the page and try Share again.
  • I logged in but nothing was copied → go to Home and look for Pending Shared Automation, then click Copy Now. Or open the link again while logged in.
  • The imported flow sends to nobody → it has no posts selected or wasn’t published. Pick posts in the Trigger card and click Set Live.

Questions people also ask

If I change my flow later, does the shared link update?

No. The link is a copy of the flow at the moment you clicked Share. Click Share again to make a new link with your changes.

Can I stop a link from working?

Treat every share link as permanent. There is no way to switch a link off in the app, and links don't expire, so only share flows you're happy for anyone to copy.

Does the other person get my posts, contacts or AI key?

No. They get the steps and their content. Your posts won't exist on their account, so they must pick their own. Contacts and the keys in Account Settings stay with you.

Can I use this to copy a flow to another account I manage?

Yes. Make a share link, switch to the other account, then open the link and copy it.
