Is InstantDM safe for my Instagram account?

Before you start

• InstantDM uses Instagram’s official login. You sign in on Instagram’s own screen, so your password stays with Instagram.
• InstantDM is a Meta Business Partner. That is about the company. It does not mean Meta approves every message you send, and it does not protect your account from Instagram’s rules.
• No automation tool can guarantee that Instagram will never limit your account. Be careful with any tool that promises this.

What InstantDM does to keep sending sensible

• It only replies to people who contacted you. A DM goes out only after someone comments, replies to your story, messages you or taps a button. There are no broadcasts and no cold DMs.
• It paces comment DMs per hour. In Account Settings → Safety & Limits → Automations / Hour you choose how many new comment-to-DM automations can start each hour. Free and Legend Pro go up to 800 per hour, Trendsetter up to 2,000, and Trendsetter Pro and Multi plans have no hourly limit. See How many DMs can InstantDM send per hour?
• It waits when Instagram says “slow down”. When Instagram answers with a rate-limit error, InstantDM pauses for the time set in Rate Limit Retry and tries again later.
• It can vary public replies. Add several public replies, and they are picked at random. The Also Include AI Comment Reply (to prevent comment spam) checkbox adds a built-in set of ready-made, varied replies to yours.
• It can slow the first DM down. Reply Delay waits 10 seconds to about a minute before sending (Legend Pro and above).
• It suggests a softer first message. When you publish without a Welcome Message or follow gate, InstantDM shows “Recommended Setup for Better Engagement”. A Welcome Message sends a short card with a button first, and the link comes after the person taps.

What Instagram still controls

• Whether a DM is delivered at all, and whether it lands in Primary or in Requests.
• Whether people who don’t follow you can receive a DM. If Instagram refuses, InstantDM posts a public comment reply instead (your Comment Reply for Non-Followers text).
• The message windows: one private reply per comment within 7 days, and 24 hours of chat after someone messages you or taps a button.
• Restrictions on your account, like a temporary messaging block or a block on links in DMs.

Good to know

• Your connection can be removed at any time from Account Settings → Safety & Limits with Disconnect. All automations stop.
• To pause everything at once, turn Global off in Account Settings → Automation → Automation Controls, then click Save.
• To keep certain people (friends, family) out of every automation, add them to Whitelist Contacts on the same tab. Don’t add the account you test with, or your tests will get nothing.
• When Instagram limits your account, you may get an email from InstantDM, such as “Instagram temporarily limited your account”.

If Instagram limits your account, turn Global off, wait until the limit is lifted, then lower Automations / Hour before you turn automations back on.

What you can’t do

• Get a guarantee that Instagram will never restrict your account.
• Send DMs outside Instagram’s message windows, or to people who never contacted you.
• Choose Primary inbox over Requests for your followers.
